A home watch service performs regular home surveys/checks of both the exterior and interior of the client’s unoccupied home. A checklist is used on every visit, and covers security, vandalism, water leaks, animal or bug infestation, rain or storm damage, verify major systems like plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning are working, and any other areas unique to that home or client. By far, the leading cause of damage in unoccupied homes is water damage. This can be caused by rain and snow, extreme temperature changes, plumbing leaks, and appliance failures. Damage can come from inside or out – and can cost the homeowner many hundreds to many thousands of dollars. Whether you pay the deductible on the insurance claim, or manage the repairs yourself, this can be costly and inconvenient. 

Home watch services are designed to prevent issues with your home that can turn into expensive and inconvenient events. While not completely fail safe, regular monitoring of your property by Home Watch of Westerly can significantly reduce your exposure – inexpensively and reliably. 

Following each property visit, an inspection report will be emailed to the property owner. Any issues (damage, breakage, malfunction, etc.) identified on the property will be outlined in the report. Should repair work be needed, Home Watch of Westerly will review options with the property owner.

Home watch services are not required to be licensed. However, Home Watch of Westerly RI LLC is registered as a business in the state of Rhode Island and the town of Westerly. The business is insured against property damage and bodily injury resulting from any home watch visits.

A homeowner who is leaving their home unoccupied for a period of time has a few choices:
